Seattle Weekend Guide

I recently came back from a quick trip to Seattle, so I thought I'd share some of my favourite things to do in my neighbouring city. I've been to Seattle numerous times throughout the years, and the reason I love it so much is because it's a different experience every time, especially depending on who you're going with.

This trip was a fun girls' weekend, full of shopping, eating, drinking, and just spending good ol' quality time together. We spent the majority of our time exploring Ballard, a cute little town about 15 minutes outside of the city. Apparently, my dad and grandparents used to live there (there's a huge Swedish community over there), so that made me love it even more. I also found that everyone was insanely friendly and nice during our trip. It was such a breath of fresh air compared to some of the grumpy snobs in Vancouver (no offense). If you're planning your next trip south, here are some of my top recommendations:

eating & drinking

Bitterroot BBQ

Great place for BBQ, mac n cheese, and all the comfort food you could ever dream of. Their catfish was amazing!

Capitol Cider

This is a multi-level cider house with a delicious gluten-free menu (the vegan kale salad is bomb). It's great for dinner and drinks, with games on pretty much every table... need I say more?

Ghostfish

An entirely gluten-free brewery with a fantastic brunch menu.

Din Tai Fung

The Dinesty of the States. I'm still dreaming about those spicy prawn dumplings!

Frankie & Jo's

Vegan ice cream...with super cute decor to boot. Decor really does get me every time, in case you haven't noticed.

shopping

Besides the obvious spots (Target & Trader Joe's), we found a few small boutiques on this trip, and we definitely did some damage to our bank accounts :D

The Palm Room

If I was allowed to bring plants across the border, I'd be stocking up on all the plants from here! They also have a beautiful assortment of crystals to choose from.

Tides & Pines

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the friendliest dog you'll ever meet - he literally says hi to everyone that walks through the door. The store is stocked with small-batch clothing, swimsuits and decor. Super swoon-worthy!

Buffalo Exchange

If you have time to look through the racks, vintage/second-hand clothing shops are worth a shot. We each found something we loved, so it's worth a stop!

Ballard Consignment

My best friend knew I would absolutely love this store, and she was more than right! It's two full floors of new and used/vintage furniture, decor and antiques at incredible prices. Each room is staged to reflect a certain style (with different music throughout the store), and you literally shop from room to room! It's times like these that I wish I was a designer with a big truck to buy everything and fill clients' homes with real gems :)

Moorea Seal

I loved her book, so I knew I would love her store! The decor, layout, pieces...everything was beautiful.

Because we all frequent Seattle pretty often, we didn't do any of the super touristy things (like the pier or space needle), but maybe next time we'll change it up a bit. What are your favourite things to do in Seattle? Let me know in the comments!
