Homemade Hot Mocha

Linnea A.

IMG_6823.JPG

Homemade hot chocolate has always been a favourite treat of mine that both my dad and grandma are famous for making, and I love it especially during the holidays. But you know what makes it even better? Having it in the morning with a beautiful shot of caffeine mixed in. So. Damn. Good. Here’s my vegan twist on their old fashioned hot chocolate!

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp coconut palm sugar (or sugar of your choice)

  • 1.5 tsp cocoa

  • 1 nespresso pod (small shot)

  • Almond milk, frothed

IMG_6822.JPG
IMG_6826.JPG

Directions

IMG_6824.JPG

1. Mix the sugar and cocoa together. Add a splash of almond milk, and form a paste with the mixture.

2. Once throroughly mixed, add your espresso shot to the paste, and stir until completely dissolved. In the meantime, froth your almond milk!

3. Top your chocolatey-espresso mixture with your frothed milk, garnish with your favourite marshmallows, and you’re set! Feels like a warm hug from Grandma, doesn’t it?!

How to Set a Christmas Table

Linnea A.

IMG_6671.JPG

As my very first Christmas Eve that I’ll be hosting in this apartment, I wanted to make sure my Christmas tablescape was extra special, to ensure everyone has a good time, and they ENJOY Christmas as much as possible. Ironically, I used to hate when my mom asked me to “set the table” for dinner, but I LOVE the sh*t out of table setting now! It’s also important to note that I don’t have a dining table - or a dining area, to be honest. So how did I pull off this Christmas tablescape? Well, I improvised, that’s how! I kept my theme very simple - earthy, Scandinavian decor, with a few touches of rustic, cabin vibes to keep it warm and cozy. And I’m not one to spend big bucks on things I’m only going to use a few times a year, but I’m here to tell you that if you follow these simple tips, you’ll have a perfectly laid out table setting in no time (even if you don’t actually have a real “dining” area).

IMG_6676.JPG

1. Folding furniture is your best friend

Yes, I said it! Folding. Furniture. Welcome to the world of condo living at its finest. I use folding furniture for ALL of my dinner parties. I have a big folding table that I keep in my storage locker, and I have 4 folding chairs from Ikea that I keep in my storage box on my patio. Once I put the table cloth over the table, and some faux fur or blankets over the chairs, you’d never even know it’s plastic underneath. If I have extra guests, I add the extra stools and seats I have around my home year-round!

IMG_6649.JPG
IMG_6670.JPG

2. Layer, layer, layer

A well laid table has tons of depth and different textures going on at once. I always make sure to set the table with either a round placemat or a charger, to act as the foundation for everyone’s place setting. Chargers can set the tone and mood of your tablescape, and make your dinnerware look completely different! I also layered some fresh rosemary wreaths for a pop of colour and a fresh holiday touch to the overall look.

IMG_6660.JPG
IMG_6651.JPG
IMG_6669.JPG

3. Mix and match

Let’s be real - unless you’re Jillian Harris (who I used to work for - miss you mucho Jilly!) or a prop stylist, no one has matching dinnerware, glassware or serveware for the exact amount of people you’re hosting - especially if it’s a large dinner. The beauty in setting a table is that it doesn’t have to match! Playing with different heights in glassware, and mixing flatware and dinnerware all adds to a unique table setting for each guest.

IMG_6673.JPG
IMG_6656.JPG

4. Add warmth with texture

Think linen tablecloths, wooden chargers, twine, pine cones, or anything with a cozy texture to add some warmth to set the scene. I didn’t add much colour, so I needed to add warmth with hints of wood, creams, greenery and twine.

IMG_6663.JPG
IMG_6653.JPG
IMG_6665.JPG

5. Light it up

It wouldn’t be a Scandinavian Christmas dinner without candlesticks! Growing up, my Farmor always had real candles lit all around her home, even though she has a crazy cat that likes to show off and dance around all the flames lol. So I’ve always been a big fan of candles, because they remind me of Sweden, and Christmas in general! You better believe I stacked my table with as many candles as possible. It also helps to have a cozy playlist going in the background that puts everyone at ease.

IMG_6678.JPG

And that’s pretty much it! You’re well on your way to hosting a Christmas dinner that your loved ones are SURE to enjoy! Happy holidays, all!

Top 5 Meal Kit Delivery Services

Linnea A.

IMG_6457.JPG

As someone who loves meal prepping, meal kit delivery services have always been of interest to me. I’ve used them on and off for a while now, but with so many new ones popping up, how can you decide which one’s the best?! Well, I’ve navigated the space for you, and have broken down the pro’s, con’s, and price of each service. Let’s get to it!

IMG_6458.JPG

1. Fresh Prep

As the first meal prep delivery service I ever tried, I didn’t know what to expect with Fresh Prep. I actually collaborated with them few times, so I’ve been able to try quite a few recipes of theirs - I’ve even served meals to my book club thanks to Fresh Prep! For the most part, the recipes are all simple and tasty, so if you’re new to cooking, this would be the kit for you. But if you’re a little more creative in the kitchen, these recipes are pretty easy peasy, so you might be a little bored with the selection.

IMG_6460.JPG

PROS:

  • Very reasonably priced: $10.33/serving (For 3 meals with 2 servings each, it’s $40 for your first box, and $62 after that)

  • They’re local, and sometimes collaborate with local Vancouver businesses to switch up their menus and feature different ingredients

  • The meals come in a reusable cooler bag, and you can choose a time frame (even a Sunday!) for delivery

CONS:

  • I can’t stand their recipe sheets - they’re flimsy pieces of paper that easily get damaged and wrinkled from the moisture of the produce; hard to reuse

  • Recipes are a little bland/boring for my liking; I prefer more out-of-the-box/can’t-create-that-in-my-head type recipes

IMG_6215.JPG

2. Good Food

As a Canadian company, Good Food appealed to me because their marketing is very strong, and their recipes are top notch. You’re basically eating an impressive meal at a restaurant, rather than a simple meal at home. This box definitely had some of my favourite recipes, including a Ricotta Rigatoni with Roasted Beets and a Bolognese that was to die.

IMG_6217.JPG

PROS:

  • Canadian

  • The produce comes in an insulated cardboard box, and all the produce you need in clear plastic bags, with an icepack inside the box to keep everything cool. They even give you reusable tubs/containers that you can use for travelling! Very beautifully packaged.

  • You receive gorgeous printed reusable recipe cards on glossy cardstock

  • The best “chef-inspired” recipes out of the bunch, including an incredible fresh tagliatelle

CONS:

  • A tad bit on the pricier side: $12.33/serving (For 3 meals with 2 servings each, it’s $44.40 for your first box, and $74 after that)

  • You have to cut/chop your own produce, so if you don’t have time to chop/dice, this may not be the box for you

  • Can’t choose a specific time frame for delivery

IMG_6456.JPG

 3. Chef’s Plate

My experience with Chef’s Plate was great. I loved all the meals, and it was pretty much identical to Hello Fresh, but a little bit cheaper. The Golden Curry with Quinoa was so delicious, as was the Maple Dijon Salmon - yum!

PROS:

  • Canada’s #1 meal kit delivery service

  • Reasonably priced: $9.99-12.00/serving (Depending on the meals you choose, for 3 meals with 2 servings each, it was $36.85 for my first box, and $71.78 after that)

  • The produce comes pre-chopped/diced in an insulated cardboard box, and all the produce comes in paper bags, with an icepack inside the box to keep everything cool

  • You receive beautifully printed reusable recipe cards on glossy cardstock

CONS:

  • Very long delivery window, with no option to shrink the time frame

IMG_6454.JPG

4. Hello Fresh

Hello Fresh is the most popular of the bunch, being America’s #1 meal kit delivery service at the moment (but yes, it’s American). I’ve heard TONS of Youtubers rave about it, so once it came to Vancouver, I knew I had to give it a try. But it’s definitely hit and miss.

PROS:

  • The produce comes pre-chopped/diced in an insulated cardboard box, and all the produce you need comes in paper bags, with an icepack inside the box to keep everything cool.

  • You receive beautifully printed reusable recipe cards on glossy cardstock

  • The Retro Burger that I tried was amaaazing, and so easy to make. I’d definitely remake the recipe again - it was that good

CONS:

  • Tad bit pricier: $12.50/serving (For 3 meals with 2 servings each, it’s $34.00 for your first box, and $74.99 after that)

  • Few to no emails to remind you to choose your meals, or warn you that a box is coming, so you need to stay on top of your subscription

  • I experienced a bad batch of sour gnocci that was imported from Italy, despite a 2019 expiry date. I literally had to pick out my gnocci from my sauce and boil different noodles to eat my meal. But they credited my account right away, so their Customer Service is pretty good.

IMG_6459.JPG

5. Miss Fresh

Last, and definitely least is Miss Fresh. I wasn’t too impressed with the recipes, and well, the cons can speak for themselves lol.

PROS:

  • Reasonably priced: $10.99/serving (For 3 meals with 2 servings each, it was $34.50 for my first box, and $65.94 after that)

CONS:

  • You have to chop/measure your ingredients out

  • The box arrived with a cracked container inside, so my diced tomatoes were all over everything! Luckily, their customer service team took care of my box because of the mishap

  • The recipe sheets are flimsy and not necessarily reusable

  • The box is shipped all the way from Calgary, which totally defeats the purpose of buying a meal kit

And that concludes my adventures with meal kit deliveries! Overall, I’d say my favourite has to be Good Food (followed by Chef’s Plate), because the meals and recipes they create are things you’d never cook for yourself; they’re sooo tasty! Have you guys tried any of these? What were your faves?! Leave them in the comments below!

We’re approaching Christmas with the speed of light, and the presents are slowly piling up under the tree. Although I’m still waiting for a ton of shipments to arrive (thanks to you, Canada Post!!! ugh), I’m officially almost finished with prezzies this year, thanks to my first holiday gift guide! To help you get ready for your celebrations, I’m guiding you through the best of the best from my favourite stores – whether you want to keep them for yourself or not is up to you ;)

1. FOR YOUR MIND

There’s nothing quite like starting 2019 with a fresh mindset and a new strategy to get shit doneeeee. I highly recommend both the Bullet Journal for productivity, and the Five Minute Journal for daily gratitude and reflection. It is sooo important to take a moment to yourself, step back, and appreciate everything in your life!

2. FOR YOUR SECURITY

Yes, our world is getting lazy, and we have a service or gadget for everything! But, the Ring Doorbell is pretty cool, and my Dad want's it, so… here ya go!

3. FOR EVENINGS IN

As someone who absolutely loves baths, this has been on my list for a while. This bath caddy makes baths so much easier - a spot for your book, candle, and vino too! And don’t forget your Turkish towel.

4. FOR THE ACTIVE B’S

2019 will be the year of healthy living, right? Right. Treat your besties (or yourself) to this adorable lunch tote, or better yet, pick up a Corkcicle Canteen to encourage an endless supply of cold H2O throughout the day. Need new workout gear to get motivated? Don’t fret; RYU has marked-down sets, like this Tech Tank and Cardio Pants Bundle.

5. FOR GETTING ORGANIZED

I don’t know about you, but 2019 will be extremely busy for me. I’ll be juggling multiple things at once (like I’m not already), so this Monthly Planner will definitely keep me organized. It will help evaluate monthly goals, budgets, priorities, to do’s, and everything in between.

6. FOR THE COOK

It isn’t Christmas unless there’s Le Creuset involved, am I right?! Because let’s face it, who wouldn’t love matching Salt & Pepper Mills or a beautiful Dutch Oven.

8. FOR THE MAKEUP JUNKIE

During these colder months, this Lancer Lip Enhancing Serum is the best for plumping those bad boys while keeping them hydrated. Also, anything from Glossier is sure to make your girlfriends smile, especially Cloud Paint or Boy Brow.

9. FOR THE DECOR LOVER

I’ve definitely been feeling the Bali vibes lately… I’m missing that beautiful place so much! To help remind me of why I love it so much, I’ve found the best Balinese home decor, including this Balinese Vase, Woven Wall Basket (how beautiful is this!) and this gorgeous Balinese Cutting Board Set for that hostess with the mostest.

10. FOR THE MUSIC FIEND

You guys… the ever so sought after Leather Marshall Speaker is literally $126.00 (39%) OFF TODAY! Yes, that’s under $200 for this speaker!! I’ve never seen this price ever before, so GO GRAB THAT BAD BOY before it sells out. Another good find are these wireless headphones, because who wants to spend money on Air Pods. You’re welcome :)

DIY Floral Backdrop

Linnea A.

IMG_5469.JPG

I promised you I’d walk you through how I made the floral backdrop for my Mom’s dessert table, so here it is! I scoured the internet for inspo photos, and once I saw hanging flowers, I knew that was it! But because I rented my party room that didn’t have white/blank walls, I had to be pretty creative as to how I would hang my garland (I’d highly recommend finding a blank white wall to make it easier lol). Curious how I did it? Spilling all the tea below!

IMG_5468.JPG
IMG_5467.JPG

What you need:

  • White opaque shower curtain (Dollar store, obvs)

  • 2 sheer curtain panels (or 1 large one)

  • 3 command strip hooks

  • Double-sided tape

  • Faux ivy garland

  • Fishing line

  • Scissors

  • Fresh flowers

  • Twinkle lights

IMG_5466.JPG
IMG_5472.JPG

How to do it:

  1. Start by measuring out how wide you’d like your backdrop to be. It should ideally be as wide as your shower curtain, which will act as a blank canvas for your backdrop. Once you’ve measured it out, stick the command hooks on the two outside corners. Next, stick 1-2 in the middle, depending on how heavy you anticipate your garland will be. I only used 3 hooks for mine.

  2. Hang your shower curtain on the appropriate hooks, then layer your sheer curtains over top. To do this, I poked holes through the top of the panels, hooked them onto the command hooks, and used a little bit of double-sided tape wherever the curtains needed extra hold. Once you have your desired backdrop, it’s time to get creative!

  3. Hang your faux ivy garland on the hooks. Measure out long strings of fishing line, and tie them sporadically along the top of the garland, wherever you’d like your flowers to hang.

  4. Snip your favourite flowers about an inch away from the bud, and start tying the flowers onto the fishing line, using the bud leaves to catch the fishing line. I started with alternating pink and white carnations, and added roses on every other strand as I went.

  5. Lastly, string your twinkle lights up and over your hooks and along the backdrop. Et voila, your magical floral backdrop is complete!

Be sure to tag me in your posts if you try this DIY out! I’d love to see your creations :)

December Moodboard

Linnea A.

IMG_5311.PNG

November, how to find the words! From party after party to secretly getting back into event planning mode for my mom’s surprise bash (which seriously made me realize that lying really isn’t my thing), it was a pretty epic month! I also forgot how much I loooove planning events. It was always one of my favourite parts of PR.

But I’m very ready to slow things down a notch, settle into December, and let the quality time with my friends and family sink in. I’ll be hosting Christmas Eve for my family this year, so you better believe I’m going all out with the tablescape. As the first Christmas without my Farfar, it will be difficult, because he was always the life of the party at Christmas dinner, but we’ll have a great time nonetheless. And then there’s that other awkward reason that could easily make this time of the year a little depressing. Maybe some would let that experience put a damper on Christmas (like Jesse Metcalfe (who’s still my #1 crush btw) in Christmas Next Door lol), but I’ve removed it from my memory entirely. Plus, who loves a grinch anyway?! And how can I not be stoked when some of my nearest and dearest are all returning home for the holidays? I obviously cannot WAIT to see their beautiful faces. You’ll likely see a face or two on the gram when they arrive :) Happy holidays, all!

How to Create a Dessert Table

Linnea A.

IMG_5177.JPG

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been secretly planning my mama’s surprise 60th, which went off without a hitch, and she was absolutely floored! She loved it all, and had absolutely no idea. But the showstopper of the entire event definitely had to be the dessert table, which was my goal. HUGE thanks to my aunt for helping me set it up, and contributing so many delicious sweets along with my Grandma! Wondering how I created this bad boy?! Keep on reading, and I’ll share all my tips & deets!

SPATS-Recap2.jpg

1. Pick a colour scheme. What’s the celebrant’s favourite colour? Do they have any favourite flowers or greens? This will help determine the colours you’ll be using throughout your entire event. Pick this first, then you can figure out the balloons and other decor to correspond and compliment the floral/dessert colour way later.

FullSizeRender.jpg

2. Gather your inspo. After you’ve skimmed through Pinterest and Instagram, what’s the reoccurring theme in your inspo photos? Are there similar treats or flowers in every photo? Put all your photos into a collage, so you’ve created yourself a moodboard that you can easily share with the baker, florist, and all the decorators lending a helping hand! It’s key to ensure everyone’s on the same page with your vision.

IMG_5172.JPG
IMG_5231.JPG

3. Shop your home. As someone who loves decor and entertaining (and the daughter of someone who loves it just as much), I had LOTS of inventory to work with, so I had to be resourceful. We have cake stands and platters up the ying yang, so it was just a matter of me gathering my favourites together (without her noticing anything was missing from her house), shopping my own home for all my marble slabs, cutting boards, lanterns and vases, and putting them all together. I also used jewelry boxes and dishes for the table, and I had some wooden stumps lying around (originally sourced for an event that never happened *cough* LOL), so I kindly asked my Dad if he could cut them into wood rounds for the dessert table. And he KILLED IT. I scattered the wooden rounds throughout the room, and they elevated the look of the whole event!

IMG_5226.JPG

4. Choose a focal point. What’s gonna make your table stand out? Will you have a balloon garland along the top, a hanging sign in the middle, or a full backdrop? I decided to create a full DIY floral backdrop. This took a lot of thought as to how I would hang everything because I couldn’t put any holes in the wall, but it all worked out perfectly. I’ll definitely break down how I made my floral backdrop in another post!

IMG_5236.JPG
IMG_5171.JPG
IMG_5251.JPG

5. Sketch out your table. This way, you’ll figure out what you’re missing, and what you still need to do. I had a running list week after week of what I needed to accomplish before the big day. The sketch also helped tremendously when I was setting everything up. It’s easy to forget the vision in your head when you’re overwhelmed with to do’s, but if you draw it out beforehand, you’ll be able to show the others helping you what you’re going for, and it makes your life a whole lot easier!

IMG_5174.JPG
IMG_5230.JPG

6. Pick your desserts. Based on your inspo photos and your sketches, you’ll get a good idea of how much dessert you need to fill the table, and what to ask for if people offer to bring/bake something. I knew a big cake was a must, but what about everything else? My Grandma is an incredible baker, so she made 3 types of cookies, and 2 different cakes. I also made Lavender cupcakes, we had hand-painted macarons, intricately designed cake pops, and bite-sized Food for the Gods. Let’s just say we had NO SHORTAGE of dessert.

IMG_5178.JPG

7. Eucalypus and twinkle lights. Period. My best tip for any party is to buy a whole bunch of silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus, and scatter it throughout the room. I put it all along the food table, mantle, dessert table, and made all the floral arrangements with tons of eucalyptus. In addition, I gathered all the twinkle lights I own, and scattered them all throughout the dessert table, inside of glass lanterns, and wove them along the cake stands. It adds such a magical touch!

IMG_5238.JPG
IMG_5232.JPG

8. Make your own floral arrangements. Nobody knows your colour scheme like you do, or your vision, for that matter. Floral arrangements are actually a lot easier than you think, so my advice is to buy a whole bunch of greens and flowers in your colour scheme, then break them apart and make your own arrangements to suit the vases you have on hand. Not only is this cheaper, but it looks so much better, and you’ll also feel better, knowing you made them all!

Hopefully this helps you out the next time you have to plan a party and want to create a show-stopping dessert table! If you have any questions about where I got certain things, or want more tips, feel free to email me, DM me on IG, or leave a comment below! Always happy to share. <3

November.jpg

Is it just me, or has 2018 just flown by?! Regardless, October was a little bit of a hard month for me, so I’m pretty glad to see it go. I definitely wasn’t feeling myself, and just felt genuinely “off” all month long, for a number of reasons. But things are looking up for November, and boyyy do I have a busy month. Not only am I heading out for a little weekend getaway, but between birthdays (and sadly, death anniversaries), I literally have a family event every single week. Yes, every week. But I’ll definitely have some exciting content coming up for you! Don’t want to jinx it, but my creative block is finally gone - I’m feeling like I can finally breathe again, and feeling more inspired than ever! I also have some exciting news to share… but more on that later. Hope you’re excited for all the holiday content coming your way! Have a beautiful November, lovelies!

Let's Be Real

Linnea A.

IMG_1938.JPG

Hi guys. It’s time to get real with you. If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve hit a little bit of a slump on my blog. Since I’ve come back from my trip, it’s taken me a while to adjust back into my regular scheduled programming, plus I got hit with a bad flu from the plane as soon as I got home. On top of that, despite all the inspiration I picked up during my travels, I don’t quite feel rejuvenated or inspired to write… which I’m having trouble understanding. Yes, everyone has their off days, but this “slump” should be over by now, and I can’t seem to shake it. I think it’s my overall mood, and I haven’t been overly happy as of late.

It could be my hiatus from working out, but don’t worry, solving that problem and back at it hardcore today. But it could also be because I can’t get over the stigma of being looked at as a blogger now, rather than just a girl. I actually hate the term blogger. When I see someone I haven’t seen in a while, they literally say “oh my gosh your Instagram is amazing, your trips look amazing, your life is amazing” or, “oh, well you’re a blogger now so…” (like what does that even mean?), or they seem to think I’m this high maintenance chick that needs everything to be absolutely perfect, high-end, and expensive, or else no bueno.

Well I’m here to crush those thoughts/vibes because I don't think of it that way at all. I appreciate the compliments, I really do, but life’s definitely not as perfect as you think.

Yes, my trip was amazing, but there were also many things that didn’t go as planned (wrong trains, changed itineraries, rude people (oh, that’s just Paris), train track malfunctions, mini meltdowns, just to name a few)... and at the end of the day, all you can do is laugh about them. They’re new memories made.

And yes, I love my life, but that’s because I choose to love it every damn day. It’s a full time job to be positive and grateful for what you have, and that’s what I work towards. There are things and people I wish I had in my life but you CAN’T MOPE around like a whiny brat living your life like it sucks without those things or that person. I constantly have to remind myself that my little life with Dash is awesome, and therefore, it is pretty awesome.

Overall, I’m a pretty easy going, say-yes-to-everything-blown-away-by-pretty-much-everything kind of person, so I’m sorry if I put up some sort of wall to make you think otherwise. I just love pretty spaces, photography, travelling, and Instagram in general (I used to create IG feeds for a living), so I make an effort on my account.

My main goal is to share the things that I love, that inspire me, and that actually work! If I can inspire you, or help ease the stress of decorating or navigating the ever-changing “it product” scene, then that works for me.

To help with the slump, it’d be super helpful to know what you want to read, what you want to learn about, and what areas you’d like me to spend more time focusing on. I’d absolutely love your input, so I can deliver exactly what you guys are looking for! And also, making an oath to you guys to be REAL. Like, really real. Come at me with comments, concerns, suggestions, whatevs. <3

October Moodboard

Linnea A.

IMG_1218.PNG

Hello fall! If you haven’t noticed, I was in Europe for the latter half of September, so it’s crazy that it’s already October! I was only gone for 2 weeks, but it felt much longer than that. I’m definitely travelled out for a while... there’s something about travel that makes you appreciate your home that much more. I can’t wait to unpack, purge a little, and make my house as cozy as possible for fall. I picked up a few home items by Scandinavian designers in Stockholm, so I can’t wait to use them!

I’m determined to focus on staying home (hibernating), spending time with Dash, getting back into the workout routine (omg I feel gross without working out), and cooking good quality, wholesome food pretty much every day. October, let’s do this!

My Signature Stack

Linnea A.

IMG_6546.JPG

I've been trying to create my “signature ring stack” for what feels like years, so when I finally found what I was looking for, I was over the moon! I’m a big believer in investing in everyday jewelry that will last, and I used to be a huge silver-lover, but I’ve been over it for a while. Let’s face it: gold is the new black. GLDN, to be exact. When they came into my life, my ring stack dreams literally came true. All of their pieces are hand-crafted and engraved in La Conner, Washington, which is so crazy because I used to visit La Conner all the time as a kid! I have so many great childhood memories there… and the GLDN team is beyond sweet. Just genuinely good people… people I absolutely love working with!

If you haven’t heard of them before, they literally have soo many options, from simple stacking rings to engraved, personalized pieces, so you’re sure to find something you love. A signature stack allows you to dress up your everyday look, all while shining a little bit of that personality you have with how you style your rings. Plus, you get to mix and match in so many ways, so you’ll never get bored. I knew I wanted simple, everyday rings that could be worn together, and so far, I’m thrilled with the progress of my stack!

IMG_6527.JPG

First up, the classic, elegant Kenai Stacking Ring. It’s the perfect polished gold, so comfortable to wear, and ideal to buy in multiples! If you don’t love solid 14K gold (but I mean, who doesn’t), they have other material options available at different price ranges, so you can choose exactly what you want.

IMG_6525.JPG

One of my favourite rings from my stack is my Marcie Small Oval Ring. I knew I wanted a personal touch of some sort, and because I’m a gemini through and through, my zodiac sign made the cut. I luuuurve it.

IMG_6545.JPG

Last but certainly not least is my Personalized Rhone Band. The width of the band is just right - not too skinny, and not too thick. And to personalize it, I had to put my one and only’s name down, duhh! Absolutely love how it turned out.

And that, my friends, is my signature stack so far. Next on the list? Probably a thick pinky ring - just need to decide what kind. What are your go-to places to buy your everyday jewelry? Let me know in the comments below!

Euro Essentials

Linnea A.

IMG_6458.JPG

Ok, ok, I know I’ve been talking about Europe a liiiittle bit too much lately, but I can’t really help myself - I’m too excited! I feel extremely lucky to be able to cross off so many places and things from my bucket list over the last two years... they really have been my most amazing years yet. I’m clearly addicted - and this travel bug is never ever going to go away. But I’m A-OKAY with that.

So for Europe… I’m travelling to three different cities: Milan, Paris and Stockholm, which just so happen to be the fashion capitals of Europe!! Not to mention all pretty different climates, so how could I NOT pack my entire closet?! Well let me tell you, it was tough. Very, very tough. And I know I’ve talked about my travel essentials before, but I’ve narrowed down my absolute euro must haves for this trip - outfits, shoes, accessories, skincare and all. Let’s dive in, shall we?

IMG_6472.PNG
  1. Blazers - I’ll take one in every colour, please. And yes, I’m literally bringing 3.

  2. Dad Shoes - Because a girl’s gotta be able to walk all over the city (and look cute doing so). I’m so happy that man-repelling dad shoes are IN… and no I don’t care if my entire wardrobe repels men. If you get it, you get me.

  3. Fanny Pack - For all the gypsies comin’ at me. Lol. But really, could it be any more perfect to have fannies come back in style on my way to Europe?

  4. Tortoise Shades - Because what’s an outfit without them?

  5. Pleated Skirt - The most versatile piece I’ll be bringing with me. It can be styled with sneakers, heels, booties, a blazer, a cozy jacket, a bodysuit, a tee… literally everythinggg.

  6. Teddy Bear Coat - For those cozy rainy Parisian days... or days out in the countryside of Sweden.

  7. Sock Booties - To pair with almost every outfit. They’re one of my favourite fall staples for sure.

  8. Summer Fridays Overtime Mask - A PSL in a mask… that gives you a face like a baby’s bottom. Mmmhmm.

  9. Laneige Lavender Sleeping Mask - Fluffy, soft moisturizing clouds that literally give you sweet lavender dreams - and a plump, moisturized face in the morning!

  10. Ouai Wave Spray - With shorter hair, it’s the only ouai.

  11. Lanege Sleeping Lip Mask - Bomb. Dot. Com. Loved the Berry, and the Apple Lime is my new fave. I’m def buying the other scents too because this product is just that good!

Where are you off to next?! Let me know below.

Forever in Blue Jeans

Linnea A.

IMG_6276.JPG

I've always been a big denim lover, and I've especially been loving the family denim trends: mom, dad, boyfriend, girlfriend, your brother's friend, the works. But although these denim trends are flattering, the comfort level of thick, rigid denim just doesn't quite scream "let's get cozy by the fire", yenno? So what's the next denim trend for fall, you ask? Comfy, stretch denim that actually looks like real denim - a no brainer if you ask me.

IMG_6281.JPG

Thankfully, Everlane answered my prayers with their newly launched Authentic Stretch. If I wasn't already obsessed with Everlane before, I am even more so now. The Authentic Stretch line is made sustainably (no surprise there, because ALL of their products are), and actually looks like rigid, authentic denim - with all the comfort of stretch jeans. Yes, there are other stretch denims out there, but they don't even look remotely close to real denim - and let's be real, they look cheap! I don't know about you, but there's nothing worse than cheap-looking-denim. I'm telling you, this new wave of denim is something else.

IMG_6262.JPG

My favourite pair from the line is the High Rise Skinny Ankle Jean in Mid Blue, but I definitely want this pair in all the washes. They have a form-hugging fit, and the fabric is made of 4% stretch that literally lifts and snaps back - without any of the annoying bag out (I can't tell you how many pairs of boyfriends jeans I have that are too big now!) Plus, the hardware is simple and timeless, with a leather patch that just gets better with wear.

IMG_6282.JPG

If you've never heard of Everlane, you're in for a treat. I've been a fan from the very beginning, and visiting their storefront in Soho was an amazing experience. Pretty sure I spent at least an hour in there. Now what you waiting for, get shopping!

September Moodboard

Linnea A.

sept.jpg

SEPTEMBER. It's crazy to think that it's here tomorrow, because it feels like just yesterday that I was at the PNE... but that was literally a year ago! There's no doubt in my mind that this month will definitely be a fun one - probably one that I'll remember for the rest of my life. So many great things to look forward to: trip planning, parties, trying to soak up as much summer as I can, and last but certainly not least, my much anticipated trip to Europe. I don't think it's quite hit me that I'm going yet, but it's happening SO soon! I'm looking forward to revisiting Milan after 10 years, finally checking Paris off my bucket list, and returning to (one of) my motherland(s), Stockholm, Sweden! Cannot wait for some much needed time with my girls, eating all the food, drinking all the vino, taking in the fashion, visiting my family in Sweden, and living that hygge lifestyle IRL. Here's to new adventures, new memories, and new friends. I love you already, September!

PS - Milan/Paris/Stockholm reco's are MOST welcome ❤

My Evening Routine with Vitruvi

Linnea A.

IMG_5819.JPG

Morning and night routines - they’re something special. Every single successful person I've talked to or listened to has rituals that they more or less stick to on a daily basis, morning and night. Needless to say I've done my absolute best to stick to what I'd consider a pretty awesome evening routine. I know that others may look in and think I have it easy with no kids, no strings, no whatever, and maybe I do, but that's all the more reason for me to savour these moments and my "me" time as much as I can. Take a read if you'd like to know what a typical night in my life looks like.

IMG_5839.JPG

My early evening begins at a coffee shop with my laptop and all my hot yoga gear in tow. I usually order an herbal tea, change into my fitness gear, put on a motivational podcast and get cracking on my blog while I wait for my class to begin (usually about 1 to 1.5 hours later). This is one of the most productive times of my entire day. I find that I'm inspired, focused, and in the mindset that I'm going to kill it at my oxygen class. I absolutely LOVE this ritual I've created for myself!

IMG_5818.JPG

After washing up and having some dinner (which is usually meal prepped and ready to go), I take my pup Dash out for his evening walk, which has become such a relaxing activity for me. I make sure I don't look at my phone at all, and take the time to focus solely on Dash and what's happening around us.

Stone Diffuser, c/o Vitruvi

Stone Diffuser, c/o Vitruvi

By the time we get back, it's time to wind down. I dive right into my evening skincare routine before making myself some Lavender Chamomile tea (or Hot Cocoa with Reishi) while catching up on some YouTube. Yes, your girl’s an avid YouTube watcher! I then brush my teeth and grab some water for my bedside and for my Vitruvi stone diffuser. It's become a nightly ritual of mine to fill my diffuser with Lavender essential oil right before bed. You already know how I feel about lavender in general, and the fact that it helps me have a deeper sleep just makes it even better.

IMG_5824.JPG

Vitruvi essential oils are 100% natural with absolutely no added synthetics or chemicals.  Not only are they a Vancouver company that I love and respect, they've thoughtfully designed all of their packaging to be effortless and minimal - so much so that I purposely display my oils all around my home! Every time I turn my diffuser on, it gives me so much joy because it's sooo beautifully made. The warm tone of the night light is so relaxing; it's not too bright or cool-toned, just right for bedtime.

IMG_5827.JPG

Once my diffuser's going, I jump into bed, grab my Five Minute Journal, and jot down my thoughts. I take time to reflect on the amazing things that happened throughout the day, and what I could have done to make it that much better. This allows for constant gratitude and self improvement. I write in my journal morning and night, and it hands down helps me be a nicer, better person overall. It's pretty unbelievable what a little bit of gratitude and reflection can do for your entire day.

Once I'm settled, I read my book/wine club book of the month until it's time for some shut eye. Et voilà, bonne nuit!

What does your evening routine look like? If you’re interested in a morning routine, let me know in the comments below!

The Best Amazon Finds

Linnea A.

IMG_0146.jpg

If you didn't already know, Amazon seriously has the best stuff, and you can pretty much find anything you're looking for on the site. I know I've shared a few of my skincare routine favourites with you, but what would I be doing if I didn't share all my Amazon secrets?! Not only do I love shopping for beauty items, but I love Amazon for home decor, home organization, and even health and wellness! Are you ready? Here. We. Go.

IMG_5160.JPG

Skincare Ride or Dies

Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask: My lips can't live without this stuff. I know it's a "sleeping" mask but I use it all day, everyday. Yes, it's that good!

Corsrx Acne Master Patch: Got a pimple? Oh goody, we get to use a master patch! Put one of these on  and it will magically disappear the next day.

Silk Pillow Cases: To help prevent wrinkles and help protect your hair, a silk pillowcase is key! I'd been wanting a Slip pillowcase for a while, but the steep price was way too much for me to justify. So what did I do? Looked to Amazon for a replacement, duh. This one in Ivory is one of the best! You're welcome.

Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray: I've used this for years and repurchased time and time again, but I've recently been obsessed with the new Lavender Chamomile spray. It is sooo relaxing and smells so. damn. good.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid: This is basically a super hydrating drink for your face. Your skin will absolutely love you for it. So go nuts, drink it up!

The Ordinary 5% Retinol in Squalene: You just turned another day older. So buy this. Retinol is the only scientifically proven ingredient that fights and prevents wrinkles. Need I say more?

The Ordinary Niaciminide & Zinc: For those days when you're whole face is a blemish. At least it's fun to use!

The Ordinary Buffet: Because your skin needs to stuff it's face at the buffet, too. This is literally a multivitamin for your skin with all the nutrients you could ever imagine.

Rose Quartz Facial Roller and Gua Sha Rose Quartz Facial Massager: You get the BEST of both worlds here. Not only do you get a rose quartz jade roller (I keep mine in the fridge, and use it whenever I feel puffy or need lymphatic drainage), but you also get a Gua Sha Slimming Massager! This tool is amazing for anti-aging, de-puffing, detoxifying, and simply getting your blood and circulation flowing. Facial massage is an amazing way to keep your skin young, so go ahead. Massage that visage.

Foreo Luna Mini: A super trooper in the skincare world, the Foreo is at the top when it comes to cleansing the skin in the most sanitary way. It makes sure you get all that makeup off, and also helps get your blood flowing throughout your face with its vibrations.

SPF Facial Setting Spray: Putting on sunscreen sucks, but it's super duper necessary, even on the darkest, rainiest days. To help with the suck, Koreans created SPF setting spray!! And it. is. BOMB.

Aztec Secret Indian Clay Mask: Everyone's favourite cheap, effective, to-the-point mask! Buy it if you know what's good for you.

Nail Art Kit: If you do your own nails like I do, this Korean nail art kit has brushes, dotting tools, everything you wished for and more.

Health & Wellness

Four Sigmatic Hot Cacao Mix with Reishi: K guys, if you didn't know, I'm a little bit of a health nut. I'm all about finding the latest and greatest health products, and my current obsession is Four Sigmatic; their products are literally magic. As one of my favourite products (next to the 10 Mushroom Blend), their Hot Cacao mix is the BEST way to give yourself a little treat before bed while giving you a restful sleep, all thanks to the power of mushrooms. I happened to meet the founder, and he's just as impressive as his company - probably one of the smartest people I know. Now what you waiting for, get those shrooms!

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides: I've always had pretty brittle nails, and my hair took forever to grow, but since I've been adding collagen to my smoothies, I can't seem to stop my hair growth, it's pretty insane! Next on my list to try is their Matcha Collagen. Oh, and not to state the obvious, but collagen may do a lil somethin' somethin' for your skin, too.

Coast Protein Vanilla Protein Powder: What kind of post would this be without my go-to vanilla protein powder? My friends at Coast Protein killed it with this formulation, and I love everything about it. It tastes amazing, is way more sustainable and eco-friendly to produce than whey, and makes a bomb ass Banana Almond smoothie. Yum.

Charcoal Teeth Whitener & Tongue Scraper: Two words. Tongue scraper. It (along with the charcoal whitener) will change your life, no if's, and's or but's.

IMG_5163.JPG

Fashion

Bamboo Clutch: Cult Gaia called. They want their EXACT DUPE back.

Straw Bag: Very similar to Clare V. bags, this tote was made for rocking all summer long. Oh, and it matches with pretty much every outfit, too.

Balinese Rattan Circle Bag: Because if you haven't gone to Bali, this is the next best thing.

Mesh Market Tote: For all those farmer's markets you're attending, duh.

Cat Eye Sunglasses: Summertime musts. Don't waste money on sunglasses. Buy them on Amazon!!

IMG_5159.JPG

For the Home

Menu Bottle Grinder, Set of 2: Yes, Amazon has Menu. Yes, these are absolutely beautiful!!

Silicone Straws: We all have to do our part to save the planet. For me, that starts with replacing all my disposable straws with reusable ones - whether they be glass or silicone. These silicone straws are super easy to use because you can throw them in the dishwasher, no problem!

Magnetic Spice Jars: Told ya once and I'll tell you again. These bad boys are life changing!! Such counter savers and so easy to use while you cook. Never go hunting for your spices again.

Kinfolk Home: If you want to learn the art of slow living, or even take a peek at a few cool people who live slowly, this is the book for you! Plus, it looks great no matter where it's displayed in your home. Plus plus.

Eat Drink Nap: One of my favourite coffee table books of all time!

Black Letterboard: So you can put all the captions you never posted up in your home for all to see. But really though, how cute are these letter boards!

And that concludes my Amazon favourites. I hope you're inspired and found something you love!

How to Organize Your Pantry

Linnea A.

FullSizeRender.jpg

Pantries are one of those places in your home that tend to get messy and cluttered, real fast. And because I'm someone who loves to have everything organized with its own place, an organized pantry brings me so much joy. So today, I'm sharing the final result of my organized pantry! And to help you organize yours, I've linked all of the containers and storage solutions I used below. Let's get to it.

IMG_4890.JPG

Airtight Containers

To start your pantry, you're going to need containers to hold your dry goods, ideally of the same type so they can stack, and give an overall cohesive look. I absolutely love using airtight containers, because they keep everything fresh. And the fact that they're labeled and clear helps me see what I have stock of, what I'm low on, and what I use the most! I have containers that are easy to replace from my local supermarket, so if I happen to need another one in a specific size, I can always buy extra. I also love the fact that these containers are "reversible" because they’re identical from front to back, so if I run out of a certain product, but have another product I need to store, I can just clean out the container, put a new label on the other side, and voila! That way I don’t have to constantly wipe the white marker off.

IMG_4868.JPG

Mason Jars

When the airtight containers are a little to big for what you need to store, mason jars work just as great! You can easily see what's inside of each jar, what you're running out of, and labelling them couldn't be easier. I love keeping all my smoothie items easily accessible and in close proximity to each other, because I use them pretty much everyday! I placed the other items that aren’t used frequently higher up the cabinet, and the layout has been working out great.

FullSizeRender.jpg

What to Store

As far as what you want to store in your pantry goes, think about the dry goods you use on a regular basis, and what products are easy to store in the clear containers. I’ve got everything from different types of flour and sugar, to gluten free pastas, cricket protein powder and all the superfood essentials! For everything that doesn’t fit in my pantry cabinet, I store it in my corner under-counter lazy Susan. That’s where I store all my nut butters, spice overflow, and other miscellaneous pantry items.

IMG_4878.JPG
IMG_4894.JPG

Magnetic Spice Jars

A huge part of this transformation was transferring my spices into uniform magnetic jars that now live on my fridge. I have sooo many spices, and originally, I thought turn tables inside my pantry would work well for me, but noooo. I can't even count the amount of times my spices would fall off of them when I was looking for something, smashing onto my counter, glass and spices everywhere! And trust me, my friends can attest to this. My new magnetic spice jars are soo handy, and they look really good, too. I bought an amazing retro label maker, and the spices are now labelled to perfection, in all their retro glory.

IMG_4875.JPG

Label Maker

Ok, now what makes my spice jars so damn special is definitely my label maker. Call me a crazy old lady but I am so obsessed with this thing, I can't stop labelling everything! I highly recommend investing in one of these bad boys, so your labels are all identical, and you can change what you store in each jar once it's finished, just rip the old label off! Eazy peazy lemon sqeezy.
